FAQs

1. How much coverage can I get?

Up to $1 million dollars in life insurance and $10,000 per month of disability coverage. In many cases your association life and disability insurance plans make easy cost-effective supplements to your existing individual or employer provided coverage, and our disability plans offer supplemental coverage when your existing coverage is at its maximum available amount.

2. I’ve spent years and thousands of dollars to get my license and practice where it is today. What would happen to my family and my practice if I became ill or disabled and couldn’t work?

This is the million dollar question. As an attorney – particularly if you have an independent practice – your ability to work is your greatest asset. You insure everything significant in your life – home, auto, jewelry – why not this? Insure your ability to work.

3. What if I already have coverage through my employer as part of my benefits package?

Employer-provided benefits are great, however, most professionals should consider individual life and disability coverage to fill in any gaps and to help preserve coverage after a change in employment.

4. I dropped my membership, what happens to my coverage?

Once you enroll, your coverage is yours to keep as long as premiums are paid when due. Unlike ordinary association or group products, our policies cannot be cancelled due to a change in any association membership status.

5. Who will I call when I need to make a claim?

If you have any questions, or if we can be of further assistance, please contact us at: 1-800-928-6421. You can count on our knowledgeable and responsive representatives to assist you with your insurance needs. SelmanCo’s customer service center hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Eastern Time.

6. Why do I need more occupation disability coverage?

Your ability to practice is your greatest income-earning asset. Many financial planners advise maximizing your individual disability protection, it is estimated that one in four professionals will suffer some form of long term disability before age 65.
