A CHAMPVA Supplement Insurance Plan helps you and your family get the medical care needed without the worry of high out-of-pocket expenses, lack of coverage, or expensive medication.
The CHAMPVA Supplement Insurance Plan can help the spouses and dependents of 100% disabled veterans. If spouses and dependents have CHAMPVA coverage from the VA, a supplement plan can help them deal with all the “left over” cost share expenses from covered inpatient and outpatient services. It's a type of optional health insurance plan that helps CHAMPVA families get up to 100% coverage for medical expenses, after deductibles are met.
The CHAMPVA supplement may be right for the spouses and/or dependents of a disabled or deceased veteran. They must be under age 65 and eligible for CHAMPVA benefits.
The plan sponsor is the Government Employees Association (GEA), a non-profit, tax-exempt organization founded in Washington, D.C. in 1965. Plans are fully administered by Selman & Company (SelmanCo), a Cleveland-based company. Policies are underwritten by Hartford Life and Accident Insurance Company.
